Taskin hopeful of making a comeback soon
Bangladesh pace bowler Taskin Ahmed said on Tuesday that he is confident to make a comeback in the upcoming home series against Afghanistan.
Taskin sustained side strain during the third T20I against Ireland and missed the following one-match Test series against Ireland in their own backyard.
The right-arm pace bowler, considered to be the leader of the new-look pace bowling unit, failed to get fit for the ongoing three-match ODI series against Ireland that began in Chelmsford today( May 9).
"By the mercy of Allah the rehabilitation process is going very well and there has been a lot of improvement and hopefully within a week and a half I will be bowling again," Taskin told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium after completing a rehabilitation program.
"Initially I will start bowling in low-intensity bowling and the progress will depend entirely on the recovery," he said.
'I hope to be fully fit before the series against Afghanistan," he said.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play a home series against Afghanistan in June that is comprised of one Test along with three ODIs and two T20Is.
Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha said that the injury of Taskin was something
they'd learn from.
"What happened to Taskin is a good eye-opener for us in terms of keeping an eye on how much cricket they play and how to keep them fit for big tournaments like the Asia Cup and World Cup," said Hathurusingha.
Taskin too trained his focus on getting ready when he's needed.
"Our BCB coach, doctor, selectors are concerned about this matter (my injury) and they have already made plans like where they want me to play and when," he said.
"They (team management) may or may not want me play but it is my responsibility as a player to keep myself ready so that I can deliver my best (when the opportunity) comes," he said.
